Karen
is a native of Wallasey at the tip of the Wirral Peninsula in Cheshire.
She graduated from the Victoria University of Manchester in 1976 with
a BA Ancient History and Archaeology. She has lived and worked in Bristol
for more than 26 years with her husband Mike and 5 children aged 7 to
29 years.
Her
interest in sugarcraft and cake artistry began with making birthday
cakes for her children, friends and relatives and has developed steadily
over the years. Eventually enquiries for all kinds of cakes began to
arise from outside this close circle and the business has grown from
there on.
Initially
details of her skills were passed by word of mouth but with the publishing
of this web site she intends to serve a wider clientele. Many of her
early satisfied customers have returned for repeat orders.
She
has supplied wedding cakes in many styles and specialises in exquisite
floral motifs with an emphasis on the sympathetic co-ordination of the
decorations with the bride's attire.
In
the field of celebration cakes subjects modelled have included such
diverse subjects as flower fairies, racing
pigeons, sharks, a lighthouse at sea (complete
with flashing light) and a full sized replica of an electric guitar.
She
has received awards in sugarcraft competitions at both local and international
levels. She also enjoys providing demonstrations of her skills to members
of her local British Sugarcraft Guild, of which she is a member.
If
you are interested in acquiring skills such as sugar flower making,
figure modelling or sugar plaque painting Karen can arrange classes
on either a one to one basis or in small groups. Please follow this
